Weekend update From the Kelly's

Dust, Dust – EVERYWHERE!   We pray for rain…. but then, the small one room houses, with their rusted, holey roofs, and sitting on lava rocks, will be inundated with water.

school children
Mugunga School, a Project of HEAL Africa, is a Primary school, about 20 minutes from the city. There are 355 students, catering for disadvantaged children.  How wonderful to spend time with the teachers and children. The children assembled on the playground – originally all lava rocks, but over time, cleared by parents, who could not afford to pay school fees. The children presented items for us. Children have little to eat, and while we were there, 2 children fainted from lack of food. They were given sugar and a crust. Parents, who can spare water, bring it for all children to share during the day.

Our MPC "Educate 100" Project  will   enable  more children to go to school and we also talked with the Principal about help being given to some students to remain, who would otherwise be leaving because of lack of money.  HEAL Africa has association with other schools as well.

David and Patrice

David is working with Patrice on Budget, and Annual Reports and Planning Documents for the General Assembly this week.

Heather has commenced English teaching with Doctors and Nurses.

We both met with 2 of the Pastors at HEAL Africa and gave them the donation of Study Bibles from a member of our Congregation, as well as English language Bibles, and “Swahili” language Bibles for the Councillors to give to patients in their Bible study classes.

Please continue to keep us, Lyn Lusi, the co-founder of HEAL Africa and the staff at HEAL Africa, as well as the Congolese, in your prayers.
